One of the best things about owning an Android phone in conjunction with XBMC is the fact you can navigate and control your XBMC via your phone! Even better still is that it works with all versions of XBMC including my Raspberry Pi setup!
Simply download the app from Google Play and ensure XBMC is setup to allow control via HTTP and other devices. Take a note of the XBMC IP address, you can see this in System information and set a password if you wish. Then you simply set this up on the app and it should connect to your XBMC providing your phone is connected to the same home network (Wifi).
Control from any web browser
If like me, your too lazy to lean over and pick up your phone whilst surfing the net, theres another option! Although so far I haven't managed to install this properly using Raspberry Pi versions of XBMC although it does work fine on my Windows media centre PC. Simply download the latest version of XBMControl Web. This downloads in ZIP file format which you do not need to extract. You simply go to the web control settings in XBMC, the standard web server is called 'Default', click on this and choose 'Install from ZIP' or similar then choose the downloaded ZIP to install. It'll take 10 - 20 seconds and may not even confirm that it has installed. If installed correctly though, it will show up to choose instead of 'Default'. All you then do is open a web browser and type the IP address of the PC running XBMC to see the GUI.
