So ever since I received my Raspberry Pi on June 2nd, I have mainly used it to run XBMC.
There are a good few iterations available including Raspbmc, OpenELEC and now recently XBMC for Raspbian (A custom version of Debian bespoke for Raspberry Pi hardware).
The recent OpenELEC version is still a little slow but very good in general, for those of you interested you can download a ready-made SD image here: http://www.kvarley.co.uk/raspberrypi/openelec/
Your second option is to run XBMC from an Raspbian image. See this recent post for details http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianXBMC
I managed to follow all the instructions through to the end and now an excellent version of XBMC, much better than OpenELEC. I'm very impressed! I'm currently trying to host a copy of my SD card but the smallest I can compress the file is 1.3GB so I think I might have to torrent it as the best internet connection I can get is around 8MB here in the Silicon Fens!
